Trying to hide

I don’t know about you, but I’m a bad liar. It’s not hard to tell when I’m down. One time I was like this, and someone asked if I was okay. The feeling of tension within myself; whether I should trust them or not, was acute. I don’t know about you, but I want to trust people far too quickly.

Poem 87 of 365 –

Red eyes,
Late-night cries.
Reluctant disguise,
Because I don’t know if I can tell you why.
I want to
But it’s too soon.
I can’t predict what you’ll do
If I share
This and lay my heart bare.
I know you care,
But in trying to mend it, will you tear
What I’ve tried
To build? I
Want to play outside,
But then you’ll know what I’m trying to hide.
